March's Featured Instrument
This month’s featured instrument is the Anton Krutz Signature Mandolin!
Made entirely in our famous Kansas City workshop, the Anton Krutz Signature Mandolin is entirely hand-carved from seasoned tone woods. A North American Maple back, Canadian Spruce top, Evo Gold frets and D'Addario J74 strings name just a few of its top quality features of this fine instrument.
Blending the Italian Masters traditions of violin making with the time-honored American Loar era design. Following the success of his arch-top classical guitars (purchased by musicians such as Eric Clapton and Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band,) Anton combines Golden ratio geometry and precisely graduated arches to make the finest mandolin available to-date. Lessons @ KC Fret Shop

Devin Dechant is an experienced bluegrass musician who has performed with acts such as Danny Spain Gang, Cameron Keeling and The Runaway Train. Devin is a gifted musician, performing on banjo, mandolin, guitar and ukulele. Devin is now available to give lessons for all those instruments at KC Fret Shop on Monday from 3pm to 7pm. The lesson fee is $30.00 per half-hour session.

Restoration Corner
Our skilled luthiers and repair techs have over 75 years combined expertise, along with skills from high-end violin restoration. You can be assured your instrument will receive top-tier care, from simple adjustments to complex restorations.
This is a 1955 L-5 guitar that was unfortunately badly refinished once before. Somebody many years ago sanded all the color off and then applied an extremely thick, splotchy green tan finish.
The guitar was carefully stripped of the bad finish of and then coated with a professional classic tobacco burst finish. The finish was also much thinner and made the sound much better. Then a full set up was done.
Repair Consultations: You can drop off your instrument at the shop during open hours and our repairman will contact you with a repair estimate. You're also welcome to book an appointment to meet our repairman.
